Deaf/Hard of Hearing/CODA Animal Camp
This week of camp is designed for campers who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or Children of Deaf Adults (CODA).
Campers will explore the world of animal welfare through innovative activities, games, and animal meet-and-greets. Whether helping out our shelter animals, or learning about proper pet care and humane training techniques—campers are sure to leave with an understanding that it is cool to care!
Jr. Vet Camp
Jr. Vet Camp is for students who are interested in learning more about the veterinary field in a fun, camp-like setting. Campers will observe medical procedures, meet animals, and practice the basic skills needed to help our furry friends. No experience is necessary and all supplies will be provided.
Paws & Claws
A must for young animal-lovers! This session explores what it takes to care for pets of all kinds—furry, feathered, and scaled. Campers dive into the world of pet-ownership by fostering their very own pet-plushie for the week. With plenty of crafts, games, and animal interactions, this camp is guaranteed to get your tail wagging.
Humane Heroes
Do you know a child who wants to work with animals when they grow up? Why wait! This session investigates different ways that kids can help pets in our community. Campers will explore the world of animal welfare through innovative activities, games, and animal meet-and-greets. As Humane Heroes, campers will learn important lessons on empathy, advocacy, and consent through the lens of animal care. They will assist in socializing shelter animals, creating enrichment, and making adoption ads to give our harder to adopt animals some extra love and attention while in our care. Campers will leave knowing they made a paw-sitive impact in the lives of our shelter animals.
Arts and Crafters
Calling all artsy animal lovers! This camp is committed to learning about animals through art. Campers will create masterpieces based on animal themes and work with various mediums to add more color to the sheltering world. In between projects, campers will also participate in various experiential learning opportunities, including hands-on animal time with shelter and ambassador animals at East Bay SPCA.
Canine Academy
Make a difference in the lives of shelter dogs by providing valuable training to help them find their fur-ever homes! This session focuses on teaching campers the skills of animal behavior and training, through lessons, games, activities, and animal interactions. Campers will put these new skills to the test when they are grouped with a shelter dog, helping the dogs to build manners and confidence, and helping our campers to build life-long memories. Don’t worry, Canine Academy has plenty of cat time too!
