Programs for Teens
Counselor-In-Training (CIT)
The CIT position is a great opportunity for teens age 12-14 looking to gain volunteer experience with children and animals! CITs will help create a fun and welcoming camp environment by modeling desired behavior for campers, playing games, assisting campers with crafts, and maintaining clean spaces.
This position requires a minimum TWO week commitment (doesn’t have to be consecutive weeks of camp) volunteering with our Paws and Claws or Humane Heroes groups (CITs can only volunteer with groups that are at least 2 grades younger than the CIT). The fee to participate is $100. Limited financial assistance is available!! Please email education@eastbayspca.org to request a scholarship.
Youth Program Assistant (YPA)
The YPA position is a great opportunity for teens age 15-17 looking to gain experience with children and animals! As a YPA, participants will assist our camp staff in leading engaging week-long sessions of Animal Camp. YPAs will help to facilitate crafts, games, lessons, and animal meet-and-greets throughout the camp session.
This position requires a minimum five-week commitment volunteering with our younger camp groups. Session 1 is June 2-July 3 (no camp on July 4) and Session is July 7-August 8. This is a stipended program.

For these school break camps, we will reach out directly to Youth Program Assistants (YPAs) who successfully completed at least one summer session.
