We are pleased to offer Telemedicine appointments to new and current clients for the following:
- Fear Free Consultation prior to in-person appointments: For pets that have fear or anxiety when visiting the vet.
- Animals in need of medication prior to holiday events and other situational stress (4th of July, New Year's Eve, airline travel, etc.)
- Animals in need of prescription preventatives like flea, tick, and heartworm medication.
- Medication Continuation for East Bay SPCA Adopted Animals: For pets needing an extension of a prescription that was given to them prior to adoption.
- East Bay SPCA Training Clients: For East Bay SPCA training clients that need a consultation regarding fear/anxiety medication.

Appointment Requirements & Notes
How much does a telemedicine appointment cost?
Telemedicine appointments are $60 per appointment, the same as our in-person appointments.
How long is a telemedicine appointment?
Each appointment is scheduled for 15 minutes. The length of the appointment may be shorter depending on the need of the appointment.
When are telemedicine appointments held?
They are Monday through Friday, hours may vary week to week.
How do I set up a telemedicine appointment?
To schedule your appointment call (510) 569-1606. You must be a California resident to set up an appointment.
When will a prescription need to be renewed?
If the patient has not been seen in person or via telemedicine after 6 months, they will need another appointment to continue any medication.
- You must be in California when your appointment takes place.
- Video and Audio is required for the appointment.
- Individuals with the animal must be over the age of 18 and authorized to make medical decisions for the animal.
- Those who need a translator must have someone with them who can provide native language to English translations.
Meet Our Telemedicine Veterinarian: Dr. Kecia Valdez
Dr. Kecia Valdez, a proud native of New Mexico, discovered her calling in veterinary medicine when she welcomed a miniature schnauzer named Jules into her life. She attended the University of Colorado School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated as part of the Phi Zeta honor society. Shortly after graduation, Dr. Valdez moved to the Central Valley to start practicing small animal medicine. In 2002, she opened her own practice, affectionately named after her cherished companion, Jules and expanded with two more locations. Dr. Valdez is passionate about giving back and providing essential care to those in need. From performing TNR in California and New Mexico, assisting shelters with more advanced surgical procedures, and traveling internationally to help remote villages. With extensive experience in veterinary medicine, Dr. Valdez brings her expertise to our community medicine team as a Fear Free Certified Professional, equipping her with the skills to address patients’ mild to moderate behavioral needs. In her rare moments of leisure, Dr. Valdez finds joy in reading, trail runs, and exploring new destinations with her family. She also enjoys attending concerts and enthusiastically supports the Golden State Warriors.
