Saving Presley

Presley has been through more than a cat ever should.

This devoted mama and her three tiny kittens were found abandoned in a crate outside our Oakland Spay/Neuter Center. Presley had a large open wound caused by a ruptured mammary gland that had become necrotic. It was a serious injury that required immediate medical care.

Even though Presley was in pain, her only concern was her kittens. Because of her injury, they couldn’t nurse and were severely dehydrated by the time they were found. Thankfully, they were rescued just in time.

Our Shelter Medicine team cleaned and treated Presley’s wound, removed the damaged tissue, and even made her a tiny T-shirt to keep her kittens from trying to nurse while she healed. Once everyone was stable, Presley and her little family headed to a foster home where they could recover together.

Now, after everything she’s overcome, Presley is finally ready for the next chapter. Her kittens were spayed and neutered and found loving homes, and now it’s Presley’s turn to be cared for.
