Counselor-In-Training (CIT) Program

The CIT Program is a great opportunity for teens (age 12-17) looking to gain volunteer experience with children and animals!  As a Counselor-In-Training, participants will assist our camp staff in leading engaging week-long sessions of Animal Camp.  CIT’s will help to facilitate crafts, games, lessons, and animal meet-and-greets throughout the camp session.

Selected CIT’s should be available to work at least 2 camp sessions during the summer and be available Monday-Friday of the camp week from 8:30pm to 3:30pm. Applicants can only apply to volunteer at camps that they are at least two grade levels above. For example, a 7th grade can volunteer for our 1st-3rd grade camp, but not our 4th-6th grade camp.

Application Deadline: Our CIT application deadline has been extended to May 1st.

Process:  Please note that dates have been adjusted in accordance with the state sheltering in place order. To apply, please fill out our Google Form application, linked below, before May 1st.  Upon reviewing applications, possible candidates will be invited to a group interview. Due to limited space, not all applicants will move forward to being a Counselor in Training (CIT) for the Summer Camp session. You will be notified by early may regarding whether you have been invited for an interview. Interviews will be conducted during the first two weeks of May.

Selected CIT’s are required to attend a one-day mandatory training session, which will cover expectations, protocols, animal behavior, safety techniques, etc. Failure to attend your location’s training may result in your removal from the CIT program.
