Veterinary Assistance Program
At East Bay SPCA, we value and support the priceless bond between pets and people. Emergency veterinary bills and the cost of medication and follow-up care can be overwhelming for many pet guardians, and all too often they make the heartbreaking decision to surrender their pets, hoping that shelters and then new adopters will care for them. Thanks to our Veterinary Assistance Program, we have the ability to provide treatment to these animals so they can get the medical attention they need and remain with their loving families.
These programs help people and pets like Ami and her dog Gansito. Late last year, Gansito suddenly became gravely ill. Less than an hour after we were contacted about Gansito’s predicament, we called his family to say we could do the surgery that day at a greatly reduced cost. After we performed the surgery, Gansito went on a special diet to speed his recovery, and he’s now back to his normal energetic, playful self—and most importantly, at home with Ami and the family who loves him so much.

Sit,Stay Home Fund
At the East Bay SPCA, we value and support the priceless bond between pets and people. Many local families are finding it difficult to afford keeping a pet, especially during emergencies like job loss, serious illness, extended hospital stays and other circumstances. It’s those very times when humans need pets to lift their spirits. Our Sit, Stay Home Fund supports important services including our Medical Assistance program, Pet Food Pantry and Hold for Home that help pet owners who are experiencing challenges or crisis to retain their pets instead of surrendering them. These programs provide access to critical pet care and resources.
These programs help people and pets like Mariano and his dog Player. Mariano used a wheelchair due to chronic arthritis. When Mariano became eligible for a series of surgeries that would enable him to walk again, he reached out to us in search of affordable care for his dog Player during his hospital stay. We were able to provide temporary boarding for Player to keep him and Mariano together. Mariano has continued to recover from his surgery and recently achieved his goal of being able to take Player on walks again!
Your gift today to our Sit, Stay Home Fund will help keep more families like Player and Mariano together when they need each other most.
