Senior Pets 2016

When older dogs enter shelters, they often need time: first to adjust to the shelter environment and then get ready for new owners. Our Senior Pets Fund helps pay for the longer stays and gentle attention these animals often need before they can be adopted.

Mickey, age 8, and Jammer, age 9, came to us when their owner moved to assisted living. The pair was extremely nervous with people and difficult on leash. Our shelter staff worked with Mickey and Jammer to acclimate to the shelter and overcome their fears. The hard work paid off as these two blossomed into an amazing duo!

Jammer was a HUGE fan of playing fetch who could catch any ball and Mickey turned out to be a giant love-bug who wanted to cuddle all day long. Four months later, a San Jose couple traveled to our Dublin shelter to meet them. Mickey and Jammer turned on the charm and home they went.
