Community Service Saturdays & Sundays
These programs are designed as an opportunity for students age 10 and up to receive volunteer experience and learn about animal welfare—all in a day! This is a perfect fit for those needing to complete service hours for school or other group. Students will spend time completing various projects and tasks around the shelter in addition to meeting some of our animals and learning about a topic relating to shelter life. All participants will receive 4 hours of service credit for attending the program.
Those looking for an ongoing opportunity may be interested in our Youth Volunteer Club which meets once a week after school for four weeks at a time.
Anyone age 16 and above interested in volunteering long term can look into our regular Volunteer Program.
Community Service Weekend Programs are offered once a month (September–May) at our Oakland and Dublin locations.
On the day of the program students should wear closed-toe shoes, long pants and a shirt with sleeves. They will need to bring a snack and we recommend bringing a water bottle. Please also remember any paperwork needing a signature by staff in order for students to receive credit for their service hours.
Community Service Weekend Programs are a Humane Education program. For questions, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or (925) 230-1301.
