Classroom Program East Bay SPCA

The East Bay SPCA’s Humane Education Department has a unique program for teachers to use in the classroom to help students learn about animal welfare, human rights, environmental protection, and social justice challenges in our community.

The East Bay SPCA has created the CARE classroom program in an effort to eliminate animal cruelty, neglect and overpopulation by providing programs and education that support people and companion animals. This program not only brings animals to you, but the lessons are linked to California State Standards.

The following is an overview of the CARE classroom lessons that we offer. You may schedule up to five lessons if you wish. You may also schedule a visit weekly, biweekly, or monthly for a series.

  • Responsibility – Being responsible for ourselves and our pets
  • Caring – Caring for each other and having compassion for all living things
  • Citizenship – Being a good citizen in the community
  • Respect – Respecting the planet and all of its creatures
  • Fairness – Treating people and animals fairly

The above lessons are taught through fun and engaging activities, stories, and include a safe, educational animal interaction for each visit.

The CARE program is FREE to all classrooms in a Title I or low-income school in Alameda and Contra Costa County. Please ask our Education Team about field trip opportunities when booking your session(s).
