Whether your child is a giant animal lover and just wants to spend a week doing everything animal, or they need a little experience and education before you add a furry friend to the family, our summer camp program will be purr-fect for them!
Animal camp is educational and fun! Through hands on lessons, animal interactions and many animal themed activities children of all age levels have an opportunity to engage and foster care for the animals at our facility. Camps are $395 for five-day sessions. All camps are held between 9am-3pm each day. Limited financial assistance for qualified applicants is available.
Camps are designed based on the grade your child will be entering in the fall. When signing up for camp, please choose a session based on the grade they will enter at the end of the summer.
Campers will learn the key elements when it comes to caring for a pet. Each camper will receive a plush animal on Monday and will be responsible for “fostering” (caring for) that animal for the week. Each day there will be crafts, games and other activities that relate to the care and responsibility of having a pet, including veterinary services and training. Campers will have a daily journal and a small amount of work to complete at home.
The full day of this sessions allow us to do additional activities with our youngest campers such as a field trip to Emerald Glen Park at our Dublin location and more time for shelter animal enrichment and care. Daily animal interaction is included for all camps, with both shelter and therapy animals.
It’s everything animal! Campers will enjoy daily animal-themed games, crafts and lessons. The camp will show campers the connection between all living creatures, our community and the world, and how they can stay connected to those in need in our community. Our core lessons for this camp include covering topics such as the basics of dog training, rabbit care, animal body language, grooming and many others! Each child will be assigned to one of our shelter cats for the week. Each day they will assist with the daily care and enrichment of that animal. Additional daily animal interaction is included, with both shelter and therapy animals.

Our 6-8 grade summer animal camp is designed for those children who love working with animals and want to gain some hands on experience. Each child will be paired up and matched with one of our dogs that is available for adoption on Monday and they will work as a team to train the dog different skills and behaviors throughout the week. Campers will also have the opportunity to help provide care and enrichment for some of the cats in our care. We know that many of the students who attend this camp are considering working with animals in the future, so each week there will be a few guest speakers to highlight different animal careers. This is our most popular program so register early to reserve your camper’s spot!

Our High School summer animal camp is designed for those high schoolers who are interested in hands-on experience with animals. Each camper will be paired up and matched with one of our cats to learn about common veterinary preventative practices. We will explore current issues in animal welfare and complete service-learning projects on animal activism. Campers will engage in creative projects to provide enrichment to our Education animals and fosters, which sometimes include guinea pigs, rabbits, reptiles, birds and other small animals. These campers will also have a unique opportunity to work with our dogs who may be struggling behaviorally in a shelter environment. They will work with our skilled staff to help train coping behaviors and positive kennel presentation to some of the dogs with adoption barriers. We know that many of the students who attend this camp are considering working with animals in the future, so each week there will be a few guest speakers to highlight different animal careers. We do sign off on any service hours that campers need completed for our High School camp!
