Orientations and trainings are held at both our Oakland and Dublin facilities. We hold monthly orientations at each facility, but you may attend orientation and training at either shelter, even if you plan on volunteering at the other.

2008 Volunteer Orientation Schedule:

IMPORTANT: Volunteers will need to register for the orientation they plan on attending. Registration will open 2 weeks prior to orientation. Please click on the orientation you would like to attend to register.

Potential volunteers should plan on staying for the entire orientation. Orientation will cover the history of the organization, our philosophy of animal care and rescue, our community commitment and information and schedules for available volunteer positions. Training related to specific volunteer positions will be held the weekend after orientation. There are no orientations held in July or December.

• Orientations are held from 2p - 3:30p
• All volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to Orientation and Training Classes.
• Do not bring children with you, unless they are there to learn about our opportunities for kids (over age 10). Please read our section on Kids and Volunteering.

Dublin: Sunday, June 1 Saturday, August 2 Sunday, September 14 Saturday, October 4 Sunday, November 9

No orientations are held in July or December.

• This class is required for Volunteer Feline Socializers.
• You must have attended Orientation in order to attend this class.
• Feline Socializer training is held from 1pm to 2:00 pm.
• If you attended the Volunteer Orientation in a previous month, you may still attend this class! You do not need to sign up.

Dublin: Saturday, January 19 Sunday, February 24 Saturday, March 15 Sunday, April 27 Saturday, May 17 Sunday, June 29 Saturday, August 16 Sunday, September 28 Saturday, October 18 Sunday, November 23

• This class is required for Volunteer Dog Walkers, Dog Adoption Prep Volunteers, Dog Groomers.
• You must have attended Orientation in order to attend this class.
• Dog Walkers training is held from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• The Dog Walker training also includes a short section on dealing with puppy socializing.
• If you attended the Volunteer Orientation in a previous month, you may still attend this class! You do not need to sign up.
