Q: Hi - i have a 10 year old mix terrier - he started itching - scratching and is losing his hair - starting at his hind end? What is wrong?
A: It could be any number of things making your dog scratch but the most common problem would be a flea allergy. Even if you do not see fleas, if he is allergic to them it could cause scratching and hair loss. Some dogs have seasonal allergies as well. Because of his age it may also be an endocrine problem: such as thyroid or hormonal if he is not neutered.
