ABOUT US

Q. I have a male Chihuahua that I adopted.  I don't know exactly how old he is but the shelter thought he was about 10-12 weeks a couple of months ago when I adopted him.  He just lost one of his front teeth today, so I think the guess may be correct.  I was told at the shelter that I might need to wait until he was older to neuter him because he is not heavy enough to be put under.  He is approximately 3-4 lbs now.  How early can I get him neutered?  Is he too light now?

A. We neuter a lot of chihuahuas this size with no problems. He may not get much bigger, so there is no advantage to waiting!
