A Heritage Dedicated to Animal Welfare
Become a member of the 1874 Society today!
The East Bay SPCA was established in 1874, almost 130 years ago, as the nation's third animal welfare organization (after New York City's ASPCA, and the San Francisco SPCA). Needs have somewhat changed in this time: organized originally to protect the interests of horses and pigs in the newly urban community, we no longer see horses starving in the streets. But there are still individuals who believe dogs, cats, kittens and puppies are disposable. These loyal companions are the most at risk animals in our community today.
Throughout the years, esteemed members of The 1874 Society have had much to do with the East Bay SPCA's successes. The members' past support has afforded us the means to operate two Adoption Centers and three clinics. Members' generosity will provide in the coming year the best veterinary care, training and rehabilitation for these animals.
2005 Society members are those who have given $1000 or more in the calendar year. We recognize the special individuals who make up The 1874 Society by publishing their names in the annual Registry of the 1874 Society and in our newsletter.
In addition, you will receive the benefits extended to all members of the East Bay SPCA:
